Robert Greene shares that the key to transforming oneself is from within in his TED talk. He shares from his own life experience of how he faced many setbacks in his aspiration to be a writer. Whilst keeping his aspiration alive, he took on many different jobs which had nothing to do with writing. In the process, he learnt valuable lessons and skills from each of them. These lessons and skills came together for him when an opportunity arose which subsequently led to his success as a writer of international bestsellers which includes The 48 Laws of Power, Mastery, and The Laws of Human Nature.
His story speaks to me of how being open and ready to learn in any circumstance sets in motion an inner process of integration and transformation. As he puts it in his book Mastery, “You posses an inner force that seeks to guide you toward your Life’s Task – what you are meant to accomplish in the time that you have to live. The first move toward mastery is always inward – learning who you really are and reconnecting with that innate force. Knowing it with clarity, you will find your way to the proper career path and everything else will fall into place. It is never too late to start this process.”
